COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PLASTIC SHEET, POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE (PET)
AND GLYCOL-MODIFIED POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE (PETG)
The General Service Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description covers polyester type plastic sheets, rolls, and strips.
2. CLASSIFICATION
2.1 Classification. The plastic sheets, rolls, and strips shall be of the following types, compositions, and classes as specified:
Type I- Adhesive backing
Type II- Plain (no adhesive)
Composition A- Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)
Composition B- Glycol-modified Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETG)
Class 1- Polished finish
Class 2- Matte finish
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Material. The plastic film shall be furnished in the appropriate form as dictated by dimensions; sheet, roll, or strip. The plastic film shall be clear and colorless unless otherwise specified.
3.1.1 Composition A- PET. The composition A plastic sheet shall be an extruded polyethylene terephthalate (PET) conforming to Table I.
3.1.2 Composition B- PETG. The composition B plastic sheet shall be an extruded glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate (PETG). The properties of the extruded plastic sheet shall conform to Table I.
