3. Floatation. The sorbent shall not sink when a sample of the assembled sorbent (complete with enclosing mesh, strength members and fastener) is placed in tap water for a period of one hour.
4. Oil adsorption ratio. (All types and classes) The oil Adsorption ratio shall be not less than 11 g of No.2 Fuel Oil per gram of sorbent, and the sorbent shall retain its original form when tested in accordance with ASTM F 726. Class 1 reusable sorbents shall be reused a minimum of 5 times while retaining its original form, and maintain no less than 60 percent of its oil adsorption capacity.
5. Water adsorbency. (All types and classes) The water adsorbency ratio shall be a maximum of 1 g of water per gram of sorbent, and shall be tested in accordance with ASTM F 726. The sorbents shall not sink below the water surface. Class 1 sorbents shall be tested only once.
6. Fire resistant. The sorbent in its unused dry state shall be rated as resistant to flammability in accordance with ASTM D 2859.
7. Ignition temperature. The sorbent shall have a self-ignition temperature greater than 150 degrees Centigrade (oC) when tested in accordance with ASTM D 1929.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this CID, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, quality assurance practices, and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-50 to the maximum extent practical.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling and marking. The packaging, packing, and marking shall be in accordance with ASTM D 3951.
CID based part identification number. The following part identification numbering procedure is for Government purposes and does not constitute a requirement for the contractor. Part numbers shall be determined as follows:
