ASTM standards are available from the ASTM, 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

In order to aid in the selection of a type, the recommended use of each type is provided below.

Type I- Oil sorbent in roll form is recommended for use on shorelines, as well as open water.

Type II- Oil sorbent sweeps are recommended for use over a large area for control, collection and pickup of oil.

Type III- Oil sorbent pads are recommended for use in shallow waters, in congested areas, and along rocky shorelines.

The above types shall be class 1- Reusable of class 2- Non-reusable.
